Suffering from Chronic Pain?
If you suffer from any type of chronic pain, I totally recommend going to a prolotherapist. I had chronic back and ischium (buttocks) pain. I tried doing everything from anti-inflammatory drugs, chiropractic treatments and more. Prolotherapy was the only thing that worked. I had a lot of treatments (16) because the first 14 weren't done right. It was after going to Caring Medical in Illinois that the pain started to lessen. It was there that I learned of my food allergies, which eventually lead me down the road to raw vegan foods. I am so thankful that I was able to have prolotherapy, because having chronic pain at age 17 was not a good start into my adult life. So if you suffer from any kind of chronic pain, please do yourself a favor and look up a Prolotherapist near you. You won't be disappointed.
What is Prolotherapy?
-It is a highly effective method of treating chronic ligament and tendon weakness (or pain). In prolo, the weakened areas are injected with a proliferant solution that directly stimulates the growth of healthy, strong tissues. The healing process can be expected to take about 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment. As the tendons and ligaments grow stronger and more capable of doing their tasks, the pain is alleviated. (1)
This is a type of prolo that incorporates the teaching and techniques of doctors George S. Hackett, MD and Gustav A. Hemwall, MD. This technique involves using a safe and simple base solution containing dextrose as the primary proliferant, along with an anesthetic (procaine or lidocaine) that is given into and around the entire painful/injured area (many injections vs. one injection). Most treatments are given every 4-6 weeks to allow time for growth of new connective tissues. The average person requires 3-6 visits total. The treatments are done in the office and do not require imaging or x-ray guidance or conscious sedation. Many body parts can be treated at the same visit. Sometimes additional proliferants (stronger Prolo solution additives) may be added to the base solution, depending on the individual case. (2)
It varies by where you are having it done on the body. My lower back cost $525 and $450 for my ischial tuberosity (buttocks). There was also a 1st time consultation fee of $250. (This was at Caring Medical Rehabilitation Services, Oak Park, IL back in 2009)
