How to Transition
There are a couple of ways to transition:
1. Give up everything that isn't vegan.
2. Slowly give up one non-vegan item at a time.
If you decided to give up everything it will be harder, because the SAD (Standard American Diet) is full of foods that we really love. There will be a lot of detoxing for a couple of weeks until the body gets rid of built up toxins that have been stored in the body for a long time. However, it is really important to get substitutes for the foods you miss so that you don't fall and end up binging.
If you are Christian, it might help to do a spiritual fast, as this can really help with overcoming addictions you might have. Asking God to help you through this journey can really make a difference. This is the best way to start healing if you are suffering from illness or disease.
If you decide to give up one non-vegan item at a time, this can be a little bit easier. If you focus on giving up meat first and substituting that one item it will be easier to handle instead of giving up everything so quickly. Then when you feel really confident about where you're at then give up something else. Don't put time limits on yourself. Stay at a place where your comfortable before moving to something else. You don't want to get too overwhelmed and end up binging on foods you just worked so hard to give up. Omitting foods this way helps to slow down the detoxing time, but it just takes longer to get quicker healing results. Before you know it you will be eating completely vegan and enjoying every minute of vibrant health.
